This month, we celebrated International Women's Day, prompting reflection on the remarkable contributions of women worldwide. I am privileged to be part of a scholarship program with 125 outstanding women through the Women In Sport Leaders scholarship, supported by the Australian Sports Commission. Many participants hold influential positions in the sports sector, achieving significant milestones. This opportunity aligns with my coaching aspirations and my goal of becoming a facilitator for Australian Athletics.
The scholarship has been instrumental in broadening my knowledge. The most rewarding aspect is learning from accomplished women who share their experiences and insights, aiding others in their pursuit of excellence. Many of us work in predominantly male-dominated sports environments. This supportive network fosters empowerment and collaboration, enabling us to overcome common challenges across different sports. Sharing solutions prevents the need to reinvent the wheel when others have already paved the way.
We have two more weekend workshops remaining. The insights gained thus far have been invaluable, and I am eager to apply this knowledge in practice.
Continuous learning and growth are core values I hold dear. As a coach, seizing opportunities is essential. Last year, I attended the inaugural Women in Coaching Conference on the Gold Coast. It was invigorating to connect with like-minded professionals and to learn from Australian icons such as Louise Sauvage, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, and Dani Stevens. Their insights into coaching methodologies and team building were enlightening. The event also offered excellent professional development opportunities, including strength and conditioning workshops led by expert coaches. It was yet another occasion where women supported each other in their professional journeys.
